Meet Dr. Kate Clark
Kate Clark, DDS, MSD
As a pediatric dentist, I love that every patient I see is different in their own special way. I love getting to know each child as a person and hearing all the fun things they have to say. It is so rewarding to earn a little one’s trust and build a bond with them as they grow up. Seeing a child mature into a young adult with great oral health, good hygiene practices, and confidence to maintain their smile as an adult — that’s what pediatric dentistry is all about!
I am dedicated to always providing the best care possible to each and every patient. Kids’ experience at the dentist can affect them for their entire lives. I do everything I can to ensure positive, nurturing, and laughter-filled visits so children develop good associations with dental care. Those experiences can help them have a positive outlook on caring for their oral health throughout their lives!
Education and Experience
When I considered my career path, I knew I wanted to do something that helped people and that I needed to work with children. Pediatric dentistry was a logical decision, since the care and experiences I provide can make a lifelong difference for the children I am privileged to meet and care for.
I grew up in Indianapolis and attended Indiana University Bloomington for my undergraduate studies. Dental school came next, at Indiana University School of Dentistry, where I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Remaining at IU School of Dentistry, I completed a two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Riley Hospital for Children. This intensive program was amazing! I finished the residency with my Master of Science in dentistry specializing in pediatric dentistry.
I have now practiced for several years and love everything about my career. Being surrounded by children’s energy, getting to know each child and learning what makes them tick, and helping each develop a healthy smile is so rewarding!
Professional Affiliations, Continuing Education, and Activities
I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association. I am also an adjunct clinical assistant professor at IU School of Dentistry in the Pediatric Dentistry department.
Between taking courses through the AAPD and ADA, and being part of a teaching institution, I am surrounded with new information and constantly learning. This empowers me to provide the best care to my patients!
Beyond the Office
When I go home in the evening it’s to spend time with my fiancé and our dog Phoebe, at our home in Indy. My fiancé was my high-school sweetheart; we’re planning our October 2022 wedding in the Florida Keys!
Right now, most of my free time is spent planning our wedding. Otherwise, you can find me reading or hanging with friends. I love cooking and trying new recipes, too, and my fiancé and I find new restaurants to try on the weekends. I also love working out. I often run or walk on the Monon with Phoebe! I’m also a huge Peloton workouts supporter.
Pre-COVID, I went on trips abroad to both treat and educate children about oral health. Those were the most amazing and rewarding experiences; I hope to go on more in the future.
